This exciting new degree apprenticeship provides a pathway to become a Manufacturing Engineer
equipped with the high level of theoretical knowledge and experience needed for a successful career.
This programme has been developed with modern manufacturing at the core to meet the needs of today's
employers. If you have a logical, problem solving mindset combined with a strong work ethic, then this
degree apprenticeship could be right for you. Apprentices will work to achieve a BSc (Hons) or
BEng (Hons) in Engineering.
Manufacturing engineers have a pivotal role in the planning and
efficient delivery of exciting new products or product developments
with career opportunities in all kinds of industries. Responsible for
bringing design programmes into manufacture, manufacturing
engineers use advanced manufacturing techniques and project
management skills to successfully launch high quality products on
budget and on time.
Degree apprentices will develop a range of vocational skills including
producing and managing engineering project plans, using lathes,
milling and other specialist machines, producing computer-aided
design (CAD) models and learning how to comply with regulations and
safety requirements. The practical experience of this apprenticeship
will allow you to hone your general engineering, experimental,
investigation and problem-solving skills. You will progress to develop
proficiencies in project management, securing appropriate resources,
managing budgets and evaluating engineering processes.
This apprenticeship is delivered over five years combining theorical
classroom-based learning, practical development and real industry
experience.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 or A* - C including maths, English and science,
technology or engineering related subjects and A Levels at grade C
or above in both a mathematical based subject and a science, tech,
engineering or additional mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits
in an Engineering BTEC. Learners must have the equivalent to 112 UCAS
points.
Career Paths
This standard has been designed to meet the professional standards
of the Engineering Council for initial registration as an Engineering
Technician (Eng Tech) in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical
Engineers. Graduates may even wish to go on to study a Master's
qualification (Level 7).
