Professional Integrated Degree
Level 6 Apprenticeship
The DATS Professional Integrated Degree has been designed for aspiring IT professionals including
Software engineers, IT consultants, Software specialists, Network engineers.
This apprenticeship will equip you with core skills and technical
knowledge to become a confident, capable and independent Digital
Technology specialist in one of the core specialism areas. The college
will specialise in the Software and Network Engineer pathways.
This apprenticeship standard was created in consultation with some
of the top employers, including Accenture, BT, Ford, Fujitsu, HP, IBM
and others
As a DATS Professional, you will learn about and work on solutions
that enable your employer to develop new products and services and
to increase productivity using digital technologies.
You will develop your core technical skills and knowledge in the areas
of Information Systems, Systems Development, Data, Cyber Security,
Business Organisation, IT Project Management, and Computer and
Network Infrastructure, Software and Programming.
You will know and understand how business exploits technology
solutions for competitive advantage, the value of technology
investments, contemporary techniques for design, the role of data
management systems, common vulnerabilities in computer networks,
and how strategic decisions are made concerning acquiring
technology solutions resources and capabilities.
The blended delivery will combine learning at the College with
learning on the job, where you will perform various roles, functions
and activities related to technology solutions within your employer's
organisation.
All apprentices will require the core skills and knowledge combined
with the specialist skills and knowledge to be able to operate
effectively in the defined role. Your employer will select one of the
specialisms for you, which is specific to the role you will be performing.
The specialism is chosen during the second and the third year of study
and will be in one of the following areas:
• Software engineer
• Network engineer
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have Level 2 English and Maths and three A-Levels or
equivalent totalling 112 UCAS points. Other equivalent qualifications to
A-Levels may also be considered, but are likely to be in the IT field.
Career Paths
9 out of 10 GC's apprentices stay with their employers upon the
completion of their training. Many get promoted within 6 months.
With an award in BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions,
apprentices can progress to a wide variety of highly demanded IT,
Software and Cyber Security job roles.
