Construction and the Built
Environment HTQ
This Higher Technical Qualification is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through
applied learning and gain wide-ranging experience of the construction and the built environment sector.
It is intended for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in a variety of technical roles, such
as architectural technician, site supervision or surveying.
The course is designed to give you an experience of the breadth
and depth of the sector that will prepare you for further study at
degree level, or training.
The units of study include:
• Construction Technology
• Science and Materials
• Construction Practice and Management
• Legal and Statutory Responsibilities in Construction
• Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification).
In addition, you will undertake a subject-related project.
As this is a part-time programme, you will study over two years,
attending college one day per week. The course places a large
demand on your personal time, and you should therefore allow for
approximately eight hours of self-study each week.
Entry Requirements
Entry requires a minimum tariff of 48 UCAS points.
Gloucestershire College welcome other/combinations of equivalent
and relevant qualifications that meet the typical course entry
requirements.
Applicants who do not have recognised qualifications may still meet
course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment
at the College's discretion.
Career Paths
Architectural technologist, building surveyor, commercial/residential
surveyor, construction manager, planning and development surveyor,
project manager, quantity surveyor, site engineer.
