Early Years Studies
Foundation Degree
This two year, full-time course is suitable if you already have an Early Years Level 3 qualification and want
to increase your knowledge. It is ideal for qualified classroom assistants to learn more about children and
their families. Students must demonstrate they have previous experience of working with children before
embarking on this Level 4 Foundation Degree.
If you're not quite sure whether you can afford the time or money
to go on to a full degree course at a university, but still want to work
towards that goal, then a foundation degree is the option for you.
The course, which is validated by the University of Gloucestershire,
takes place over two evenings a week and one of these evenings is
delivered electronically through web-based activities and webinars. In
addition, there are also innovative study days, on Fridays, Saturdays
and one Sunday.
All entrants must be employed (or undertaking substantial voluntary
work) in the sector for the duration of the course.
The course is made up of the following mandatory units:
In Year 1: EYF401 Learning and Skills Development; EYF402 Reflection
on Work-based Practice; EYF403 Children and Young People's
Development and Wellbeing; EYF404 Perspectives of Childhood;
