Qualifications Explained.
University level learning is likely to further
increase your career options, pay prospects
and chances of promotion. The UK job market
requires qualified workers to fill skills gaps,
meaning there is more demand than ever for
higher level qualifications. GC offers courses at
Levels 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Sometimes it can be hard to decide which option
is best for you. Ultimately, it depends on how long
you'd like to study for, whether you're currently
employed and how much work experience you
need while you're studying.
Here's a handy guide explaining all of the options
on offer at GC.
Professional courses
Professional courses are accredited by a professional
awarding body. They're linked to a specific industry and
enable students to develop relevant skills in a particular
career path.
Those who complete the course can become a member
of the professional awarding body they studied with
and often have the opportunity to achieve Chartered
status, which is highly regarded by employers. Chartered
status is usually retained by completing a certain number
of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours
annually, which can involve reading, seminars and
additional short courses.
Professional short courses are incredibly popular with
people who are already employed, teaching them skills
that can be directly applied to the workplace while they
study.
Higher and degree
apprenticeships
Did you know that you can gain degree level
qualifications through higher apprenticeships? They
combine on-the-job training with studying, and
many are professionally accredited.
From computing to engineering and management,
we offer a range of higher apprenticeships to
build your career. This includes Level 6 degree
apprenticeships, which enable you to gain a
degree qualification without the financial burden of
university.
If you're already employed, it's increasingly popular
for businesses to provide apprenticeships to
current employees. For many of our apprenticeship
programmes, there's no need to wait for September
as you can start at any point throughout the year.
