Creative Media Production (Film)
HNC/HND
This course combines theory with practice, giving you the opportunity to learn screenwriting,
editing, camera techniques, post-production and production-management skills. It is designed
to facilitate your entry into the industry, support your filmmaking.
Regular masterclasses have included workshops with Tim Palmer
(Cinematographer: Doctor Who, Indian Summers and Being Human),
Chloe Chesterton (2nd Assistant Director: Star Wars: The Force
Awakens, Wonder Woman, Spectre) and Jan Harlan (Executive
Producer: A.I Artificial Intelligence, Full Metal Jacket). The annual Sony
Centre Pinewood Studios workshop gives students the opportunity to
experience set etiquette working alongside industry professionals.
Recent work experience has included student stints on Midsomer
Murders (ITV); The Monster (Film London); A Girl Goes for Dinner
(Film London) and 10 Days in Sun City (Corporate World
Entertainment, South Africa).
Your studies should include making short films, music videos and
documentaries; working on set (studio and location) with paid
professional actors; digital photography and lighting techniques;
Arri Alexa, Arri Amira, Red Dragon and Sony camera training; Nagra,
Sound Devices and Zoom sound recorder training; Adobe Premier
Pro, Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro X training, together with
studying film aesthetics, history and theory.
Our 'one of a kind' trips programme aims to encourage learners to
build their network with professionals and other students. Past trips
have included the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada;
Camera-Image in Poland; New York and the Cannes Film Festival
(May 2016).
Entry Requirements
Entry to Year 1 (HNC) requires a minimum tariff of 48 UCAS points.
Direct entry onto Year 2 (HND) requires a Higher National Certificate
PASS (120 Credits) in a comparable and relevant subject.
Gloucestershire College welcome other/combinations of equivalent
and relevant qualifications that meet the typical course entry
requirements.
Applicants who do not have recognised qualifications may still meet
course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment
at the College's discretion.

Film director, film/video editor, lighting technician, programme
researcher, broadcasting runner, sound technician, television/film/
video producer.
